Gunbuster: Victor Manga Golden Special Victor Music, Inc., 1989 (Japanese import only) The first of a series of Gunbuster soundtracks compiles the breathtaking BGM by Kohei Tanaka as heard in the first four episodes. Also included are the opening theme "Active Heart" and the ending theme "Try Again", both performed by top J-Pop singer Noriko Sakai, plus "Fly High" by Noriko Hidaka (Noriko) and Rei Sakuma (Kazumi). Of course, this CD can do without the cheesy radio dramas and voice samples. Rating: ****

Gunbuster: Ultra Sound Collection -- Kohei Tanaka's World Victor Music, Inc., 1990 (Japanese import only) This soundtrack CD includes additional BGM by Tanaka plus those heard on the last two episodes, including the awe-inspiring ending theme. Other features include yet another radio drama, two image songs and an excellent 10-minute symphonic track -- which once again features vocals by voice actress Hidaka. A perfect companion to the Gunbuster collection. Rating: ****1/2
